Web Application Development
Yes, web appliation development is different from website development. That's why we decided to dedicate a page specifically outlining this service.
So what is the difference?
A website usually refers to the front-end interface through which the public interact with your business and are typically informational in nature with a limited amount of advanced functionality. Simple websites consist primarily of static content where the data displayed is the same for every visitor and content changes are infrequent. A web application usually includes a website component but features additional advanced functionality to replace or enhance existing business processes. The interface design objective behind a web application is to simulate the intuitive, immediate interaction a user experiences with a desktop application.
Is that definition geeky enough for you? It's a excerpt from a definition fount at Geek Interview.com. They said it well, so we re-said it.
In a nutshell - a web application is a website on steroids. If you need a 'website' that collects and displays dynamic data, provides services such as calculations, decision support, completes a critical business function, or something more - it would likely fall under a web application. And we've built many that fall into those categories.
Our web application development services include the same features you find in our web design and development services along with:
- application design documentation (word docs and pretty pictures with lines and boxes)
- well documented/commented code-base (asp, asp.net, vb.net, c#, php, javascript)
- database backend (when needed), including Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL
- user authentication/security
- integration with your internal systems as needed
- exception and error handling (making sure things don't break bad)
- form validation (making sure the users enter the information correctly)
- unit and string testing (making sure the program pieces play nicely with each other)
- deployment (to one of our hosting partners or yours, or even your internal servers)
Like with web design, a web application is unique to the client and needs. We work with you to clearly define and understand those needs and requirements and deliver a solution that meets, and in many cases exceeds, your expectations.
And, if you're in a situation where you need someone to step in and work on or take over an application you already have in progress, we can do that too. We aren't too prideful to prevent ourselves from working with other people's designs.
