Content Management
Don't you wish it was possible for you to keep your website content fresh and accurate while not having to learn how to code and while also controlling your cost? Your wish has come true!
Content Management Systems (CMS) provide non computer geeks with tools and options to add and edit web pages. When using a CMS you don't necessarily need to know how to code HTML on websites. Instead, you are able to focus on what's important on your website - the content (words, pictures, links, etc).
It might seem like we'd be working ourselves out of a job by providing you with a way to make your own updates. That's only partially true. Part of our job is to enable your business to excel by giving you a web presence that attracts visitors to your site. One way to do this is to regularly update your content. The more visitors you get, theoretically, the happier you are...and the happier you are with that - the happier you are with us - and just possibly, you'll come to us for more work. Please!?! Don't make us beg! (unless it'll help).
It's also possible for us to manage your site via CMS. If you'd rather not deal with updating the content and would like to have us do it when needed, we can work out a solution for doing that. The benefit of the CMS in this situation is that we are able to make updates for you much quicker, therefore keeping our (and your) cost lower.
Do we use a proprietary CMS?
In short, No.
The longer answer: Some web design firms advertise their own proprietary CMS. Some of these systems do, indeed, have unique bells and whistles and integration options. But with the good also comes the bad - using a such a proprietary system means your options may be limited should you ever decide you want to do something different or move to a different platform. That's a decision you must make.
While it may be a crazy thing to say, we believe in providing you flexibility and options. So we do not use a proprietary CMS.
So which CMS systems do you use?
As for us, we use some of the most common open source CMSs around. We've built websites in DotNetNuke (utilizing the Microsoft.Net platform and MS SQL Server), ModX and WordPress (both of which are php based solutions). We are also familiar with other open source systems like Joomla, Drupal, and Concrete5. There are also more expensive CMS solutions available like SiteFinity. Which one we recommend depends on your needs and your preferences.
Our CMS Service is much like our web design and development service. You will recieve:
- custom design
- template files developed according to the CMS utilized
- CMS installation and template installation
- initial page and content setup (including a contact form)
- documentation and training on how to use the CMS
If you have a current site and design you like but would like to have it ported to a CMS, we can do that for you as well.
